Coming towards the end of April, we’re a third of the way through the way through the year. What’s the favourite book you’ve read so far in 2009? What about your least favourite? (question courtesy of MizB)
Hmm...good question. My least favorite was Portrait of a Lady by Henry James. This was the third time I tried to read it and failed. Just could not get into it.
As for favorites, I have a few:
- A Poisoned Season by Tasha Alexander
- Blue Diablo by Ann Aguirre
- The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen by Syrie James
These three books transported me to another time and place while I was reading them. Very engrossing and enjoyable.
How about you? What was your favorite?
I haven't read any of these but they sound great. Sorry you didn't like Portrait of a Lady- it's a tough book to like. Henry James isn't for everyone to be sure! :-)
I haven't read any of these so I'll have to check them out and see what they're about.
One of my favourite books transported me to Italy, check the blog for details.Pure escapism.
Hi Jenny, I LOVE your layout! So cute! I haven't read any of your faves, so I now have three more to add to my want list! Thanks for checking out GBFC! :o)
I read Portrait a long time ago when I was younger and more patient.
I loved Lost Memoirs of JA too! Is A Poisoned Season part of a series?
My fav's so far in 2009
1. The Other Boleyn Girl~Phillipa Gregory
2. The Boleyn Inheritance~Phillipa Gregory
3. The Innocent Traitor~Alison Weir
I have read a few others and have enjoyed those as well.
My least fav was In the Shadow of Lady Jane Grey~just really boring and hard to get into.
I haven't read any of these, but The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen looks great and is now going on my list... my list does not thank you, but I do :)
Btw, I've left you an award here
Jane Austen is popping over over this week's MM. :)
