How are you? Hope you are well, enjoying life, the beautiful weather, and some really good books!
I have started my new position, and boy oh boy, I haven't been this busy in a long time, and it feels good! Sure I'm tired, but it's a good tired, because it's a job well done. Starting a new department is not tons of fun, and there are so many knit picky things that need to be done, thought of, and seen to, it can be overwhelming, But taking a deep breath, and escaping with a good book from time to time, saves my butt!
So what have I been reading? On Goodreads, they have a First Reads program, where you can enter to win ARCs of books. I entered and won! Who knew? The book is The Thinking Womans' Guide to Real Magic by Emily Croy Barker and it's pretty good. It's a deceptive page turner, and I'm liking it very much.
I'm also reading a Japanese detective novel, The Shogun's Daughter by Laura Joh Rowland. It's the 17th in the series, but you certainly don't need to read the previous installments. I haven't and I am doing fine.
I gave up on a few books over the summer and enjoyed several others, and think a mini-review round up is probably in order. AS for what's next, i'm not quite sure, but i have plenty to choose from.
On the knitting front, I'm still working on my sweater, and have several small projects hanging around as well. Lately I've been too tired to knit but not to read, so it's me and Kona bear cuddling up on the recliner with a book. I love it!
Well that's it with me. Please tell me how you are and what's new in your neck of the woods :)
And last but not least, my big winner for a copy of the Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe is
