"There's Chuck who drinks his coffee black and eats pie with whipped cream for breakfast, like everyday is the day after Thanksgiving when people all eat leftovers in their slippers and housecoats. He loves the way you tease him every morning, hand on your hip and finger wagging, before putting the dish down in front of him."
pg. 69, Shoes, Falling; a short story from The Simplest of Acts and Other Stories, by Melanie Haney
I'm usually not a big fan of short stories, but this little book is amazing! I'm really enjoying it.

Now that does sound interesting. A lot of information packed into two sentences!
Nice prose! I can see why you are enjoying the book. Here's my teaser: http://bookbirddog.blogspot.com
I've been reading more short stories this year...and that sounds like a good one!
If only every morning could be the day after Thanksgiving! Or a birthday - love birthday cake for breakfast :)
Now that is an interesting teaser...the end confused me a bit!
Yummmm - Thanksgiving leftovers!! Some foods are best reheated! :)
Here's my Teaser! ~ Wendi
Hi Jenny Girl! Come on over to Royal Intrigue...we've just given you an award!!
I am not a reader of short stories either, though not on purpose.. Sounds like something to look into.
Thanks for stopping by my teaser :)
I really enjoyed this collection of stories too Jenny. I can't wait to read your final thoughts.
Present tense, very interesting! I'm always looking for short stories to like. Also: pie is definitely a legitimate breakfast. The whipped cream takes care of dairy requirements!
I'm always up for pie for breakfast.
Pie for breakfast! Every day should start that way. Good teaser!
Wait - you mean not everyone eats pie for breakfast? Chuck's my kind of guy.
I would love to eat pie everyday for breakfast, especially with whip cream on it! Great teaser!
Funny to read this after seeing Charlie Brown in an above post ... made me think of "The Great Pumpkin".
