Musing Monday (May 4)

Musing Mondays is hosted by Rebecca at Just One More Page.
Today she muses about the following:

How many books (roughly) are in your tbr pile? Is this in increasing number or does it stay stable? Do you ever experience tbr anxiety in the face of this pile? (question courtesy of Wendy)

Oh this is a good one. I have two tbrs: 1) actually books in my home, waiting to be read and 2) my tbr paper/electronic list. A few years ago, I had to stop buying books (gasp, the horror) because I was running out of space to store them and the last few I bought were real stinkers. I do not like spending $25 on a book that sucks, in my opinion.

Therefore, I started my written list of tbr titles, and started going to the library to check them out. I am fortunate that my public library system is pretty good, so it is very unusual for me to have to purchase a tbr book, but it happens.

I just recently started purchasing books again, and most of them are on my tbr. I would have to guess that I have about 25 books at home in my tbr pile. I know that may not sound like much to most of you, but to me it is. So yes, I experience anxiety when I look at my stack of tbr. There are so many books I want to read, and I know I'll get to them eventually. I guess I just feel bad for stock piling books. But apparently I don't feel too bad, because my last trip to the library I swore I was only getting 1 book, so I can work through my tbr at home. The next thing I know, I am on my way back to work with 4 library books in my bag.

Books are my crack. I can't resist :)

So how about you? How many tbrs are gracing your shelves? How do you feel about it?

Books are my downfall. Some women can't resist shoes, I can't resist a book sale. By the end of the month I'll post a photo of my piles. I'm guessing a few hundred!

I think I actively have about 10 in my actual TBR pile, but the paper version is probably about 100 or more long. I like to buy my books over borrow them, because I like to see progress on what I have read. My pile is going down lately because I have actually been reading, haha.

I adore books, but only have 6 in my tbr pile , that is the one pile I can see, I'm sure there are more upstairs, but I'll concentrate on these for now.

Books are my crack as well! I have about 600 in the general collection. Most of which are not read, because I acquire them faster than I can read them. But I have a separate tbr bookcase that has about 60 books on it.

I just can't resist bringing home books from the library either!

Book *crack* is good! I hate to shell out $25 for a book too--I only do that for authors which I know I love and am loyal to. Most of my books in the stacks come from thrift stores and paperbackswap.com. Talk about addicting!

About 45 in my pile. Hundreds on the list. I would probably experience reading block anxiety more than a TBR one.

Nicole: 600! OMG! I'll never feel anxious again.

Stacy: Few hundred, huh? How do you find space to store them?

Kim: I joined papreback swap too, which has definitely contributed to my pile. I love giving books a second chance.

Matt: can't say I've ever had reading block before, but yes it would make me anxious.
